October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and Northern Westchester Hospital presents We Speak Pink, a free motivational and supportive Breast Health Panel on the facts about breast health, Wednesday, October 7th from 5 pm to 6 pm. An all-women panel of experts will discuss the latest evidence-based guidelines from the American Cancer Society, including lowering the risk of breast cancer through proactive measures and behavior changes; breast cancer screening and diagnostic options; assessing breast cancer risk; the breast cancer care process and treatment options; the importance of integrating wellness into treatment plans; and financial considerations for treatment and care. A patient who experienced treatment during the height of the COVID crisis will also discuss her experience.
The panel will be moderated by Lisa Wexler, award-wining radio host of “The Lisa Wexler Show.” NWH panelists include breast surgeon Dr. Ranjana Chaterji; medical oncologist Dr. Julia Schaefer-Cutillo; clinical nutrition outpatient program coordinator Patricia Talio, RD; acupuncturist Vanessa McKay-Barr, L.Ac; and Nicki Reno-Welt, PA, clinical coordinator at the Cancer Services Program of the Hudson Valley.
