Recently, we introduced you to the dynamic mompreneurs behind Press Pause Project, a CBD line launched for women, by women. Founders Dawn Fable and Torrey Benson are passionate about encouraging women to “take a moment and press pause,” by utilizing their organic, CBD-infused products, which includes creams, teas, capsules and more. Not sure exactly what CBD might help with—or what it’s effects may be? We reached out to Dawn and Torrey to clarify some common myths of CBD, below.

Myth: CBD Makes you “HIGH”
To be clear to all you Mamas,  you will not get high and can still drive your kiddos to soccer practice. While CBD and THC are both derived from the Cannabis sativa plant (which includes hemp and marijuana), CBD does not get you high. CBD is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid, meaning it does not produce any mind-altering effects.

Myth: All CBD is the Same
The market is flooded with CBD and there’s a lot of choices so it’s important to understand that not all CBD is created equal! CBD isn’t recognized by the FDA so the market is largely unregulated. This means anyone can make CBD products and claim they’re legit. When purchasing CBD it’s important to make sure the company offers third-party lab testing results and uses Quality ingredients. Press Pause recognizes the importance of this and provides complete transparency with all ingredients and lab results on our website.

Myth: The Bigger the Dose, the Better
When it comes to taking CBD, dose size really does matter.  With CBD, taking a higher dosage doesn’t always mean better results. While it’s impossible to overdose on CBD, taking too much may lessen the effectiveness. Every person is different so we encourage each person to find their “Sweet Spot.” Always start with less and work yourself up to what dosage is right for you!

Myth: CBD is a CURE ALL
Well, we wish CBD helped you lose weight, increased your sex drive, organized your kids bedrooms and cooked dinner, but sadly it doesn’t. Today, there are more studies than ever before supporting the myriad benefits CBD has, but it is certainly not the cure all! It was discovered that we as humans have something called an Endocannabinoid system and it’s responsible for regulating several vital bodily functions including, sleep, pain perception, mood, memory, and more. If this system becomes depleted, it can lead to illness and disease. CBD helps to ensure that does not happen. We’ve found CBD for us as Mamas to help with sleep, tension, anxiety and stress. This is all given our personal experiences, backed with progressive research and studies and we are just trying to share this with our Mama Tribe!
