The Town of Bedford and Village/Town of Mount Kisco are working with health care providers to ensure the availability of testing in our communities. Below is a brief description of testing and a list of providers who are performing COVID tests. Individuals should be tested if they are exhibiting symptoms or have come into contact with someone who has tested positive.
Individuals who test positive for active COVID should follow Westchester County Department of Health Protocol for Quarantine. Check out more of the steps here.
Types of COVID-19 Tests
Diagnostic Testing
Detects presence of active virus. PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) test uses a swab to gather a culture for testing. Positive test indicates an individual is likely infectious.
Serology Testing
A blood test that detects the presence of antibodies. Antibodies indicate the individual has had the virus. The presence of antibodies does not indicate an individual is immune to the virus. Those who have antibodies are eligible to be plasma donors which can be used for treatment.
