What to do with our pumpkins after Halloween? | Northern Westchester Moms

Thank you to our Friends of Pound Ridge Earth Day Everyday Initiative, we have several environmental friendly options to do with our pumpkins after Halloween!

Add your pumpkins to your compost pile!  Pumpkins are 90% water so they are easy to compost.  Just remember to remove the seeds to prevent unwanted pumpkin plants

Share your pumpkin plant to your backyard!  Cut your pumpkin into fourths and scoop our seeds to treat the neighborhood wildlife with the perfect snack!   Please ensure the pumpkins are paint free as paint can be toxic if ingested

Grow your own pumpkin plants in your own backyard!    Pumpkin plants are low maintenance and easy to grow!   All you need is some pumpkin seeds, soil, water and pulp from the seed.   With good care you will have your very own pumpkins by next Halloween!
