What Moves You? Reflections on the Pandemic From Club Pilates | Northern Westchester Moms

Let’s all pause and take a breath. 2020 was a brutal year with long lasting repercussions that still try to knock us down. We all lived it, we all felt it, and many of us made it. Our lives have all changed, but let’s take a minute to reflect back and be open to what we learned. Let’s remember to be grateful for what we have, remember to appreciate our loved ones, and appreciate the bodies we were given.

During 2020 and into 2021, we lost a sense of schedule, rediscovered our love of fast food, lost the importance of what it means to take good care of ourselves and to nurture our bodies. And now we’re stressed (rightfully so)! According to an article by healthline.com, new research finds adults in the United States are feeling their highest levels of stress since the pandemic began last year. Prolonged stress can affect both mental and physical health and can lead to extra weight gain.

So what are you doing to keep moving? At Club Pilates, we’ve found so many of our members are thrilled to be back. They forgot what it felt like to move their bodies. They’re happy to have a routine again and happy to have the community that they’ve missed for so long. They’re getting their bodies back to being strong and they’re taking an hour out of their day to care for themselves.

If you’ve never tried Pilates, it can seem a little overwhelming. And what’s funny is that’s exactly the opposite of how our clients feel. Once you learn the basics, you reap benefits that are too great to count. Six of our favorite Pilates benefits are:

  • improved flexibility
  • increased muscle strength, tone, and control
  • improved posture
  • rehabilitation or prevention of injuries
  • increased lung capacity and circulation through deep breathing
  • stress management and relaxation.

Yes, you read right. Get fit while de-stressing.

The sun is out and we’re feeling the major shift toward positivity. It’s time for you to feel the same. So come get moving with us. Move to feel a difference, move to see a difference. As Joseph Pilates himself once said, “in 10 sessions you’ll feel a difference, in 20 sessions you’ll see a difference, and in 30 sessions you’ll have a whole new body”.

Come try for yourself. You deserve it! Book a free 30-minute beginner intro class at one of our Westchester locations:
