Beloved children’s entertainer Raffi Cavoukian (known to millions as simply “Raffi”) has announced his first album for adults in a decade, Motivational Songs (Rounder Records).The compilation comprises tracks from 1990 to 2017, and includes themes of peace, diversity, social justice, honoring indigenous cultures, civic engagement and sustainability. All are rooted in a “compassion revolution” spirit that infuses Raffi’s music and advocacy. Motivational Songs is available digitally now and will be released on CD April 19th, 2019.
These songs advance Raffi’s “Child Honouring” philosophy, his vision for creating a humane and sustainable world by addressing the universal needs of children. Correspondingly, the Raffi Foundation will launch an online course in Child Honouring on March 11, 2019. Enrollees in the course will receive a free digital download of Motivational Songs. In the Motivational Songs liner notes, Raffi reflects, “Turning seventy is a milestone that makes one think. A feeling of gratitude goes with entry to elderhood, and thoughts of what we will leave behind when we’re gone. As part of my legacy, I wanted to offer in one place many songs that I wrote and recorded not as a children’s entertainer, but in my role as a self-described global troubadour- inspired by world leaders and global events.” Raffi hopes the Child Honouring course and Motivational Songs album can inspire fans to be changemakers.
