The Performing Arts Center at Purchase College is the Hub of Cool Cultural Events in Westchester +a Giveaway | Northern Westchester Moms

I love experiencing theater and the arts with kids. And while we don’t live that far from NYC, it can be challenging (and expensive!) to shuffle three kids into the city to experience the arts. We recently discovered a place for theater, music and the arts right in Westchester at the incredible Performing Arts Center at Purchase College.

During this visit, we had the opportunity to learn more about this cultural hub where we enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of some of their theaters and learned more about their upcoming season.

For 2020, this includes a packed schedule including tons of options for kids like Air Play, The Very Hungry Caterpillar & Other Eric Carle Favorites, Treehouse Shakers: The Boy Who Grew Flowers, MUMMENSCHANZ: you & me, and the recent production of Arch 8.

They also have offers for the whole family with some highlights being Black Violin: Impossible Tour, A Cappella Live!, Canadian Brass: Christmas Time Is Here, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, and a variety of dance companies visiting such as RUBBERBAND, A.I.M, Limón Dance Company, Paul Taylor Dance Company, and the Doug Varone and Dancers, to name a few upcoming productions.

During our recent visit, we had the chance to view the production of Rising Tide, a new work that was developed at PAC by the innovative dance company Arch 8. This powerful performance featured a fusion of genres from poetry to dance to play to live music that keep us engaged and excited. It was also really interactive where the dancers came out to the audience on several occasions keeping us all involved and engaged throughout the show.

After the show, the performers came out and led a dance demo where kids and their families had the opportunity to learn some of their movements. There’s typically an activity or craft for families to enjoy after the show where you can enjoy a whole afternoon of culture at PAC.

All of my kids (ages 11, 8 and 5) really enjoyed this unique performance that was totally different from what we would typically see. It also sparked a lot of conversations as we discussed the movements and the dynamics of the joyful and thought-provoking show.

We are so excited to be partnering with the Purchase Performing Arts at Purchase College to giveaway four tickets to the upcoming show, Canadian Brass: Christmas is Here.
