Our meet a mom is local Chappaqua mom Rachel Lacoste, she is a real estate agent with Houlihan Lawrence and active mom of 3 who is on several boards that help our community! Learn about her passions and her favorites in the area!
Where are you both from originally and how long have you lived in town?
I am from a small town in Connecticut located on the ‘antique trail’ called Woodbury,
Connecticut and spent my summers on Block Island where, coincidentally, my husband, Parker,
was born and raised. Aside from Chappaqua, we spend a lot of time on Block Island with both
my, and Parker’s parents who are both still there. We have lived in Chappaqua for the past 4
years and love it!
Child(ren) and Age(s)?
I have three children—Eloise is 6 and a first grader at Roaring Brook School; Millie is 5 and a
Kindergartener at Roaring Brook; and Holden is 3 and is a Hummingbird at Chappaqua Friends
School.

Would love to know all you do in our community and why they are all important to you:
Since moving to Chappaqua, I have become deeply invested in the Chappaqua community. I
currently serve on the Board of the Friends of the Chappaqua Library and help run the Young
Writers Program, Big Truck Day, and the town-wide book sale to name a few. Additionally, as a
former teacher and mother to a child with autism, I became involved in the PTA acting first as
the Roaring Brook Chair for Special Education and currently serve as the PTA District Vice
Chair for Special Education. For a community that has given so much to me, I try to volunteer
whenever possible.
One thing people would be surprised to know about you….
People might be surprised that I lived in Shanghai, China for close to three years even running a
marathon on the Great Wall of China!
Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?
Motherhood is not for the weak! I learn something new every day and thank my husband and
children for their patience and acknowledgment for when momma needs a minute. I would also
like to thank my family for always stepping in to help when I need a hand (which is often!).

Favorite things to do with your children?
My favorite thing to do with my children is to go to the beach. Taking all three to the beach
used to be a nightmare but by sheer dogged determination I’ve perfected the technique so now
it’s a source of pride and it’s become a family favorite. Each one of my kids has their own
favorite thing to do and I love watching each express themselves through sand castles, hole
digging &; shell collecting or boogie boarding!
How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
My family and I moved to Chappaqua during the pandemic, and shortly after, my youngest was
born prematurely. I received incredible support from new friends in the community while I was in
and out of the NICU. At the same time, I made a career transition from education to real estate,
joining Houlihan Lawrence in Chappaqua. The support I’ve received in both the personal and
professional spheres has been amazing. Moving into a new field can be daunting, but the warm
welcome from the Chappaqua community has made the transition feel seamless.
Tell us about your mom life and how do you manage it all……
Ha! I am sure I am like most moms in northern Westchester; I have good days and bad days! To
be honest, there are some days when I feel like I’m barely managing, but during those days, I
am reminded how lucky I am to have the supportive partner and kids that I do. It’s been a
learning curve going back to work in Real Estate while still maintaining my kids’ school & activity
schedules in addition to Board positions but I think, at the end of the day, the key to managing it
all is balance. I try to create that balance whenever I can; my kids are all involved in sports,
music, clubs, etc. and sometimes I’m able to pull together a balanced meal, extra reading time,
and baths; and sometimes, I find myself in the drive-through of McDonalds before putting Bluey
on so I can eat their leftover French fries.
Tell us your faves
Favorite date night spot: Kittle House! I have celiac disease and their GF onion rings are to
die for!
Favorite restaurant to go as a family: Does McDonalds count?
Favorite place to go out with friends: I really like BoBo’s in Chappaqua, it’s always a great
vibe; I rarely make it out past 8pm
Favorite place to go to have fun as a family: Besides the beach, I love taking the kids to
Stepping Stones, the Westchester Children’s Museum, or going to one of the many playgrounds
in the area- whether its sledding in the winter or monkey bars in the summer, we all seem to
have fun!
