Meet a Mom, Private Chef Marjorie Greenfield - Northern Westchester Moms

Meet Somers Mom and private chef Marjorie Greenfield.  She can support in so many ways with your weekly meal planning and to help cook for events!    Let’s chat about her favorites and how she handles mom life!

Where are you both from originally and how long have you lived in town?

My husband, Kyle, is from Central PA and I was born and raised in Somers! We bought my
childhood home from my mom in 2020 and have been fixing it up ever since.

Child(ren) and Age(s)?

Our daughter’s name is Shoshanna and she is 6 (going on 28)

One thing people would be surprised to know about you both…

I hate rollercoasters and Kyle hates Olives.

Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?

Our families. Kyles parents have been a huge part of Shosh’s life from the very start and
visit often from PA to help out and see her. My mom also lives close enough to help me with
pickup and watching her as needed. My older sister (who has 3 kids) has also been a huge
influence on me with how to parent, how to let go and to go with the flow. I have her on
speed dial!

Favorite things to do with your daughter?

Fish in the reservoir, travel to see family and friends and hang out at home. Our daughter
loves the outdoors and is very happy catching bugs, frogs, slugs and lots of other creatures in
the backyard. Also loves to ruin the furniture with slime!

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?

Referrals within Westchester have been huge for me. Ive found that once you get in with a
group that loves to entertain and they can trust your performance as a chef, they will pass
your name around a lot. I have many amazing clients who have done just that for me and i
appreciate them so much 🙂

Tell us about being a private chef and what services you offer?

* I love being a private chef! Its a perfect mix of interaction with the client and alone time
for me. I get to use creativity and my own spin on the dishes that I create. I genuinely get
excited to go to work most days. My services include in-home meal prep for my weekly
clients, drop off meal prep, In-home dinner party service, and dinner party/Holiday catering.
The weekly meal prep is 5 or 6 dishes prepared ready to go in the clients fridge.

What is your inspiration when preparing menus for families?

I pride myself on catering to the needs of each family thoughtful and carefully based on age
of the kids, dietary preferences and allergies. I love to cook seasonally and always source
what is fresh and beautiful. I’m a huge fan or bright, punchy dressings and love to use citrus
and herbs as much as I can.

Tell us about mom entrepreneur life and how do you balance it all?

With power naps! I feel very lucky to have a schedule that allows me to be home with my
daughter in the afternoon but a quick 15 minute nap in between helps me reset and recharge
before phase 2 of my day with her when she gets home from school or camp.

Tell us your faves

Favorite date night spot
Right now Kyle and I love going to Bedford 234 for a sit on the porch. Loving their cucumber
martini!

Favorite restaurant to go as a family
Upstairs at Deccicos in Somers! Amazing BBQ thurs-sun and great beer and wine. Also, so so
kid friendly with low tables, a TV and toys to keep them occupied.

Favorite place to go to have fun as a family
We love to be together on the weekends and cook big breakfasts or take a dip in the pool.
My daughter loves slime, so anywhere she can get new slime makes her very happy.
