Check Out the Ultimate Halloween Experience at Scared by the Sound in Rye | Northern Westchester Moms

As a mom I’ve gotten increasingly scared of, well, everything! But back in high school, I loved everything scary and used to binge on VHS (so retro!) tapes with my friends during sleepovers, or whenever the latest Freddy/Jason movie came out.

So when I heard that I was going to experience Scared by the Sound I was totally freaked out but also really excited to channel my braver self, and really just have fun doing something that I normally wouldn’t do.

And I knew I was in for a great experience when I heard that Scared by the Sound was recently named one of the top 10 haunted experiences in the US by CNN and also celebrating its 20th anniversary that still continues to scare the thousands of people who visit every October.

Scared by the Sound in Rye, NY

The experience started where we waited in a line with other patrons of all ages. While you can bring kids, it is advised that the experience is really for kids ages 11 and up due to the scary nature of the content throughout the space.

After a short wait, our group was greeted by a deathly character who got close to our faces, but never touched us, as he explained the rules of the 12,000-square-foot walking tour. We ventured inside not knowing what we were about to see or experience. And, wow – what an experience it was!

Every twist and turn was a new experience/room where we were greeted by the freakiest/scariest cast of characters. There was an asylum with crazed patients, a psycho doctor on an operating table, a dark (and very spooky) hallway, a psychic, a crazed clown, and tons more! Every single room was scary and that is not only attributed to the intricate sets, but also to the dedicated cast who lived their characters. There was also tons of frightful moments where they popped up in random spots or screamed when we screamed.

The entire experience lasted around 20 minutes that led us to a graveyard with a crew of creepy creatures for one final scare! When it was finally over, our group recounted some of our favorite scares with a sore throat from all of the screaming and laughing.

An extensive production, I had a blast checking out Scared by the Sound, and while I was scared I was also really impressed by the level of detail, dedication, and craftsmanship that continues to terrify thousands of people every October.

There is only one more weekend to get your scare on! Tickets ($20) can be purchased anytime in advance on-line and at the box office most nights of the event. Check out more details here.

Win it! We are giving away 2 tickets to experience Scared by the Sound for the final weekend. Check out our Instagram feed for the full details!

I was provided complimentary tickets to attend this experience. All opinions, as always, are my own.
