ABCNYMoms.com, a site dedicated to local resources, content and events in Northern Westchester, and LiceOut911, a Bedford Hills-based lice removal facility have teamed up to host “Mom’s the Word,” a fun musical parody about the challenges of motherhood. The event will also raise money for lice products and services to orphanges around the world.
LiceOut911 was inspired by a desire to add professionalism, education and fun to the head lice business. After successfully doing so, Founder Jill Bazos was so moved by the appreciation she received that she has devised a way to scale the concept to help less privileged families across the world. As such, LiceOut360 was born, a lice removal company that dispatches groups of trained, professional lice technicians to orphanages, schools and needy institutions around the world.
While still in development, LiceOut360 recently travelled with Jill’s mentor Katie Shepherd of The Shepherd Institute for Lice Solutions to Colon, Mexico to the Santa Maria del Mexicano Orphanage where they eradicated lice from over 100 children and trained teenagers and faculty to identify and treat lice so they can best prevent and manage outbreaks in the future. Since then, Jill and her team have been working to systemize the process so that LiceOut360 can be the go to resource for institutions around the world. “Lice is such a misunderstood parasite,” says Bazos. “Once a population fully understands it and is properly instructed on how to remove it based on scientific fact (not myth), it can be kept at bay and less of a distraction to these institutions that have bigger issues with which to deal.”
The evening of laughs will also include beer provided by Beer Noggin and light d’oeuvres provided by Graze New York. There will also be raffle from local vendors and more as guests watch “Mom’s the Word,” a musical parody about the challenges of motherhood, while also supporting a wonderful cause.
