Meet a Mom Amanda Racek | Northern Westchester Moms

Our newest Meet a Mom is featuring local real estate agent, (William Raveis Somers) and one of the founders of a new networking group starting in February called Moms Who Network – MOMtrepreneurs, Amanda Racek!   Get to know her inspiration for the new networking group and all about her and her family and her local favorites with her family!

Northern Westchester Mom:  Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?

Amanda Racek:  I am originally from Cortlandt Manor, in Upper Westchester, just a stones throw away from Putnam County.  I‘ve managed to remain local, in Mahopac, where my family and I currently call home for over 10 years.

Northern Westchester Mom:  Child(ren) and Age(s)?

Amanda Racek:  I’m a proud mom to a girl and a boy who couldn’t be more different (surprise surprise)! Giuliana is 6 (a first grader) – my sunshine mixed with hurricane and Tommy is 4 (a Sr in Preschool) – who needs a constant reminder of “do the right thing even when no one is watching”.

Northern Westchester Mom:  One thing people would be surprised to know about you…

Amanda Racek:  I was a competitive gymnast and grew up at Gymnastics City which I truly believe has shaped me into the human being I am today. I manage to juggle multiple businesses, family, friends and be there full time for the needs of my clients.

Northern Westchester Mom:  Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?

Amanda Racek:  My other mom friends and sister! Without them I would forget to laugh and cry when needed. Without them I wouldn’t have a weekly menu for dinner. They all keep me going and add a friendly reminder that “I am a great mom and can do anything…so put my SuperMOM hat on and seize the day and if I fail try again tomorrow!”.

Northern Westchester Mom:  Favorite things to do with your kids?

Amanda Racek:   I’m a towny. So anything in town we can do together as a family we do. Hiking adventures, park dates, bike trails, library, local breakfast|lunch|dinners, town fairs/farmers markets and our very favorite ….lake outings!

Northern Westchester Mom:  How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?

Amanda Racek:  Gosh without community support and a good foundation to my roots my business wouldn’t exist. I love my community and give back any chance I can. Attending board meetings, local functions, business councils, involvement of non for profits, school events, and just being in the know….sheeesh the list of community minded activities is endless. What truly inspires me is the success of others! Supporting local business helps a community thrive. Advocating for a community helps grow the success and ultimately creates a buzz. As a realtor showcasing my days in a community I can only hope will inspire someone else to support a local business and/or enjoy a neighborhood in town

Northern Westchester Mom: Tell us about the mom entrepreneur network and what inspired you to start it?

Amanda Racek:  Supporting beautiful women! My partners and I support each other every day. We brainstorm endlessly, execute the missions together and constantly build each other up. The powerhouse of entrepreneur moms in business is the inspiration behind this group. Women supporting women in business and in life is MAGICAL! The focus of this group is to network, grow together, support each other and laugh endlessly about being a mom. Because at the end of the day that is our WHY!

Northern Westchester Mom:  Tell us your favorites in the area!

Restaurant with the kids?

The kids love Kobu in Mahopac- Hibachi steak is life to them.

Date night with the husband?

Date night is once a month for us! Here are just a few of our favs Purdy’s Farmer & the Fish, Pimavera in Croton Falls, Rraci’s in Brewster and our local spot for drinks Barnwood Grille in Yorktown Heights (they make the best Rosemary Infused Margarita)!

Toy store?

Nothing beats a good Toy store and for us….G Willikers Katonah is it! We’ve even hit the Saratoga store many times which does not disappoint! We are a family of Charades if you haven’t had the opportunity to check out The Gift Hut in Cold Spring, we bought our latest Game of Kids Charades there and this one was a hit! Cold Spring is a quaint and artistic town with a toy shop that will let your imagination go wild!

Favorite local place to have fun?

Gymnastics City in Westchester has been in business for over 43 years! They continue to put smiles on kids’ faces year after year. If my kids where asked, “What do you want to do today for fun?” They would answer ….Gymnastics City
