Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?
I was born in Bogota, Colombia. I was adopted at 3mo old and raised in the forgotten borough that
used to have the 2nd biggest dump in the world, that they now call heroin island – Staten Island, NY.
Child(ren) and Age(s)?
I have a 9 yo son (going on 50) & an 11.5 yo daughter (going on 23).
One thing people would be surprised to know about you….
I’ve been lip syncing since I was 7 years old.
Some say it’s because I was lonely, I say it was early star quality with limited budget options. And yes,
I perform full emotional concerts alone in my house like I’m on a world tour nobody approved.My
favorite? Celine Dion. Shhhhhhh.
Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?
Absolutely. 300mg of
Wellbutrin, occasional tequila & the women in Target silently holding it together in the candle aisle.
Favorite things to do with your children?
The beach & camping.
And when I say “the beach,” I mean we arrive like a small traveling village. Chairs, snacks, tents,
emotional support beverages… we set up like we legally live there.
And somehow… I became a camping person. Never saw that coming.
The older I get, the more I’m like: “Maybe I do want to sit near a fire in a fleece pullover and discuss
bird sounds.” again, shhhhhhhhh
How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
By accepting me exactly as I am. I’m not the “normal” mom or the polished wife type… and honestly, I
thought moving here would tone me down. If anything, this community made me feel safe enough to
become even more myself. More chaotic. More Fun, More me.
Tell us about your work and what you have coming up new and exciting?
I’m a stand-up comedian first.
Always. Almost 14 years in & still obsessed with the craft. I’m also the founder of Hard Headed
Comedy, a powerhouse live comedy production company built on one thing: real stand-up. All
headliners. No filler. No safe rooms.
And now… June 7 at 7PM at St. Marks Comedy Club, I record my debut album: Nothing To Luz. No
characters. No hiding. No polishing it later. Just Lauren, Luz & Lucillia… all taking the stage at the
same time.

What was your inspiration for your work?
Me. My life, my family, my marriage, my chaos, my
reinventions, my mistakes, my mouth… all of it. Turns out if you survive enough experiences you didn’t
ever ask for, eventually you have a comedy album.
Tell us about your mom life and how do you balance it all?
My mom life is pure chaos with a good blowout. I balance it all through drive. Survival drive. Creative
drive. The drive to build a life that actually feels like mine instead of one I was told to settle into
quietly.
I’m raising kids, building a company, recording an album & still making dinner half the week. That’s
not balance. That’s talent.
Tell us your faves
Favorite date night spot? LUC’S Café. Great food, great vibe & just dark enough lighting to forget you
have responsibilities waiting at home.
Favorite restaurant to go as a family? Any themed restaurant. We LOVE a theme. Pirates? Jungle?
Medieval Times? Someone in a costume bringing mozzarella sticks? We’re in immediately.
Favorite place to go out with friends? Anywhere we can behave like tasteful degenerates in a safe
environment.
Favorite place to go to have fun as a family? Dave & Buster’s is basically our sanctuary.
Games, chaos, flashing lights, over-stimulation… feels very on brand for us.
