Meet a Mom Sasha Edelman founder of Feeding Young Foodies - Northern Westchester Moms

Meet mom of 3 Sasha Edelman the founder of Feeding Young Foodies!    Learn more about her business, her favorites in the area and more!

Where are you both from originally and how long have you lived in town?

I’m originally from Moscow, Russia — one of the last kids of the USSR generation. My husband, Harris Edelman, is OG New Yorker from the Upper East Side.
We moved to Bedford several years ago, and it’s been such a meaningful transition for our family.

Child(ren) and Age(s)?

We have three kids: Lev (6), Eva (4), and Sol (1).

Would love to know all you do in our community and why they are all important to you

My brands, Feeding Young Foodies and Baby Lova, were born from my deep passion for nourishing
children with better food. Feeding kids isn’t just something I do — it’s my love language. I feel incredibly
lucky to share that love with our community, whether through local events, catering for special
occasions, or hosting fun and flavorful workshops for kids.

One thing people would be surprised to know about you….

From the city girl, I am slowly turning into a country mouse – now dreaming of mini cows, horses and
alpacas roaming in our backyard.

Anyone special you would like to thank for helping you through parenthood?

My husband, Harris — who’s not only a fantastic BBQ cook but also my true partner in everything, from
parenting to brainstorming brand slogans during our Saturday date nights.
Our parents have been an incredible support system, especially my mom, who passed down her love of
cooking to me — and now to our kids.
And of course, our children, who continue to teach me more than I ever imagined. They’re my greatest
inspiration (and toughest critics!).

Favorite things to do with your children?

Baking together — especially banana bread, our favorite. We love crafting and getting creative with
whatever supplies we have on hand. If I can convince them, a family hike with our dogs is always worth
it. But honestly, some of the best moments are just being home, cozy and lazy by the fireplace together.

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?

Moving from the city to a Bedford was a big shift, but over time we’ve grown to deeply appreciate the
sense of safety and connection here. People are kind, helpful, and genuinely care.

How did your business get started?

I was lucky to grow up surrounded by women — my mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother — all
brilliant cooks who believed that food was love, memory, and medicine. Our home was a fusion of
Russian and Korean traditions. My mom taught me to cook when I was five. Some of my earliest
memories are of mixing dough with my tiny hands or sitting on the counter, taste-testing soups.
Fast forward to becoming a mom myself — I was shocked by how bland and uninspired most store-
bought baby and kids’ foods were. My kids refused to eat most of it, unless it had sugar. They were used
to bold flavors, home-cooked meals, and real ingredients. That was the spark behind my first brand Baby
Lova — fresh, frozen baby food made from fruits and vegetables, with no added sugar, no preservatives,
just the real stuff.  From there, Feeding Young Foodies naturally came to life. I wanted to create catering experiences for
kids events that felt just as thoughtful, fun, and flavorful — not only for kids, but for the parents who
are there, too. And truthfully, I’ve always loved hosting and decorating events, so it was the perfect
match.

What is your favorite thing about your business?

I get to blend my everyday life with my passion. I cook a lot for our family and friends, so turning that
into a business feels natural and joyful.
My kids are also my official taste-testers — their honesty is unmatched! It’s so special to create
something they love and then share that with other families.

Tell us about your mom life and how do you manage it all…

It’s a beautiful chaos! During the week, I work while the baby naps or comes along with me to meetings
and he is always on background calls. On weekends, I work full-time while my husband hangs out with
the kids.
Some days feel like a total blur, but even in the hardest moments, I feel so deeply loved by my family —
and that always brings me back to center.

Tell us your faves
Favorite date night spot
Chelsea Hotel or Bedford Tavern (best oysters and French fries!)

Favorite restaurant to go as a family
Honestly, we’re mostly home cooks and love visiting friends. With three little kids, sitting through a
restaurant meal isn’t always the easiest — so we keep it cozy (and a little chaotic) at home!

Favorite place to go out with friends
Bedford Tavern , OHHO, Laliko

Favorite place to go to have fun as a family
Grace Farms — amazing brunch and lots of space for the kids to run around
